Ruth E. Lugo, PH.D.
Dr. Ruth E. Lugo is the Dean/Provost of the Audrey Cohen School for Human Services and Education at Metropolitan College of New York. She holds a B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico; M.A./Ph.D. from SUNY at Stony Brook; and A.M. from Middlebury College, Madrid Program. She has attended the Harvard, JFK School of Government Executive Program of Public Management. Her experience in higher education academic administration is evidence by serving as an administrator at CUNY at LaGuardia, Lehman & New York City Technical Colleges, Montclair State University and SUNY at Stony Brook. She is a consultant for Middle States Association in the Northeast Region, Puerto Rico, and Latin America as an evaluator and team chair in the accreditation process. As a Newark resident, she is a former Trustee of the NJ Performing Art Center, founder of the Hispanic Women's Leadership Institute Alumni Association at Rutgers University and board member of ASPIRA of New Jersey. She has taught courses in Hispanic Languages and Literature at La Guardia, William Paterson, and Montclair State Universities. Dr. Lugo was a recipient of a doctoral Ford Foundation Fellowship, received the Leadership Award from the National Puerto Rican Day Parade, in New York City and has been recognized by the Hispanic Business Magazine as one of Top 100 Influential Leaders in Academia.
