FOCUS Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center operates at Sussex Avenue and Lincoln Elementary Schools, respectively in Newark servicing 205 students overall. The purpose of the Centers is to provide high-quality educational and enrichment programs that will enable students to improve academic achievement and promote positive behavior and appropriate social interaction with peers and adults during the academic year and summertime.  FOCUS Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC program curriculum will be aligned with the regular school-day curriculum to meet the challenging State academic standards at each grade level and the integration of Career Awareness and Exploration theme.

The center offers students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities, such as tutorial/homework services, youth development activities, service learning, nutrition and health education, drug and violence prevention programs, counseling programs, arts, music, physical fitness and wellness programs, technology education programs, financial literacy programs, environmental literacy programs, mathematics, and science.  It offers families of students, opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education, including opportunities for literacy and related educational development. FOCUS Family Success Center

The Family Success Center provides a comprehensive family support system for families residing in Newark with emphasis on the Central Ward. The FFSC aims to prevent child maltreatment by strengthening individual and family functioning; enhancing parental capacity for growth and development; increasing the stability, health and well-being of children and families; and empowering community residents to acquire the knowledge, skills and resources they need to succeed and provide optimal outcomes for children and families.
